Katherine Nashleanas, geography lecturer, will teach GEOG 140: Human Geography in the summer pre-session, which runs from May 19 to June 6. Spots are still open. The course satisfies ACE 9 course requirements. One class activity involves dining at a local ethnic restaurant for credit.
Human geography is an important field of inquiry that uses the location of places, people, events and the connections among places and landscapes to further understanding of human life on Earth.
The course makes use of the concept of the region, encourages students to consider the regional organization of various phenomena and enables students to use region as a spatial tool to illustrate various social, economic, political and cultural processes.
A significant outcome of the course will be students' awareness of the relevance of academic geography to everyday life and decision making. This combination of the academic and the applied will give students a sophisticated view of the world and an understanding of the manifold applications of what they have learned in the course.
Students can enroll via MyRed at http://myred.unl.edu. To learn more about the course, contact Nashleanas at 402-472-7905 or knashleanas2@unl.edu.
