The first Research, Exploration and Discovery Talk is at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 in the Adele Coryell Hall Learning Commons, Love Library North, 13th & R Streets.
Five undergraduate researchers, including two from SNR — Jazmin Castillo and Jenna Schweiss — will share their research and findings through innovative eight-minute presentations. Researchers are meant to look at the “big picture” and answer how their very specific project can lead to a big discovery or breakthrough.
Castillo, senior fisheries and wildlife major, will present her research on hyenas, which she has been collecting for three years on annual summer study trips abroad to Botswana.
Schweiss, senior fisheries and wildlife major, will present “Uncovering the Barriers to Sustainable Behavior.” Schweiss has been studying what is preventing University of Nebraska-Lincoln students from achieving sustainability in their everyday habits on campus; she and her team have discovered nine main barriers.
Discussion and networking will follow the presentations, and refreshments will be provided.
