Congratulations to Donna Woudenberg, a lecturer with the UNL Women's and Gender Studies Program who has just completed post-doctoral work with the National Drought Mitigation Center. She received the national 2012 Sigma Alpha Agriculture Award from the Sigma Alpha Women's Professional Agricultural Sorority, which is dedicated to promoting women in agriculture.
Woudenberg received the award for her work as an advisor and for her research. She has advised the UNL chapter of the sorority, Alpha Delta, since 2007. It has 17 active members. The organization also cited Woudenberg's research, including her dissertation, which was on including female perspectives and voices in drought and natural resource planning and outreach.
The organization is sponsoring Woudenberg's travel to its leadership conference in St. Louis in February to accept the award.
