Congratulations to Duane Eversoll, SNR professor emeritus, who received two awards last year for service to the discipline of geology:
• The Sherman Meritorious Service Award from the National Association of the State Boards of Geology (ASBOG).
• The first-ever Duane Eversoll Meritorious Service Award, from the Shallow Exploration Drillers Clinic, which Eversoll founded in 1965. He was the executive director of the annual clinic when he retired in 2006.
Eversoll has been on the council of examiners for ASBOG, a national geologist licensing organization, since 1994. He served on the organization's board from 2000 to 2005, and was president in 2004. He currently chairs the ASBOG's strategic planning committee and is a member of its PR committee.
Eversoll worked for the Nebraska Department of Roads from 1960 to 1974, when he joined UNL's Conservation Survey Division. He retired in 2006, and is preparing to publish an educational circular, "Landslides of Nebraska."
