In April 2019, the Center for Legal Immigration Assistance (CLIA) was one of two nonprofit organizations that received a Strive to Thrive Lincoln grant.

CLIA Executive Director Max Graves shared they used the $7,500 grant to help immigrant women who were victims of domestic violence. In fact, 16 women who had suffered battery were able, with assistance from CLIA, to file reports with the police. Additionally, the grant helped cover legal fees and from paperwork submitted to the Immigration Service.

With the support of Strive to Thrive Lincoln grant funding, CLIA helped these women start new lives, as the organization also helps them file for employment authorization in the United States. The women have been extremely appreciative of the assistance. CLIA Board member Brenna Smith said, "The grant made a huge difference, and still is!"
