The Spring 2023 class selected The Bridge Behavioral Health as a recipient of a $5,000 grant. The Bridge is a professional, nationally accredited treatment center treating alcoholism and drug addiction. Asking for help can be the hardest thing for people, but The Bridge makes it their mission to let patients know it may not be easy, but it will be worth it.

The Bridge, formerly known as Cornhusker Place, has served the community since 1984. Through treatment, withdrawal services, and recovery support, all patients can be assured that they receive the best medical treatment with a caring staff to support them. Recovery is a long journey; it is not just a 30-day program.

The Bridge intends to put the entire grant towards client care payment, as it remains the organization's primary challenge. They take pride in that no one must pay for their services. Approximately 85% of patients come in without insurance and few resources to get the help they need. Tammy Stevenson, executive director, knows how difficult this work can be and the need for it in the community. Through her amazing efforts, she is shaping a better future for anyone who may come through the program.

The Spring 2023 class selected The Bridge Behavioral Health for this grant because it aligned with the focus area of mental health and wellness. Tammy felt the Spring ’23 students truly understood The Bridge is all about. She stated, “Recovery is a journey; we want to celebrate the small wins. What did you get better at today?”
