Our MNGT 411 class, spearheaded by the Fundraising group, held a fundraiser this semester for Friendship Home. This Lincoln nonprofit serves victims of domestic violence, including adults and children. In 2022, 1,554 individuals were served, 64% of whom were children. They supply emergency housing and other services to aid these victims in finding justice and becoming comfortable in their day-to-day lives.
After consulting with Friendship Home, we established an online donation drive that coincided with their Stuff the Bus event. We helped promote this annual event, which collects donations of physical items at local Walmart and Sam's Club locations. Our impact went beyond monetary donations, as a few people signed up to volunteer at the event as a result of our promotion.
The fundraiser began March 27 and ran three weeks. We promoted it through staff emails and social media posts and shared it with our networks.
We raised a grand total of $1,139 from 35 separate donors. As a group, we were happy to be a part of the process and help Friendship Home through these unrestricted funds. Thanks to each donor whose generous support made this a successful fundraiser!
