The Spring 2023 class selected Belmont Community Center as a recipient of a $5,000 grant. With year-round youth programs serving a variety of youth, it is a space promoting individual growth in the presence of an amazing community.

Their commitment to youth programming with neighborhood connections dates back to 1937. It is truly a place to “become and connect,” which is the motto instilled in the staff and students within the program to be the best version of themselves.

The organization plans to use the $5,000 grant to push them over the threshold for a brand new playground set to fill their empty field. With a new playground, the children at BCC can build their gross motor skills and learn how to play in safe and fun ways with each other. Kids deserve a safe space to express themselves and truly have fun. Members of Strive to Thrive Lincoln are excited to drive by BCC in the future to see the impact of the class' contribution. They view it as a seed of hope for the kids’ bright future.

The Spring 2023 class selected Belmont Community Center because of the organization’s focus on child development and education, aligning with the class focus area of Early Childhood Education.

Belmont Community Center has been a place that is always listening to the community while they continue to innovate and adapt in the world of early childhood development. Executive Director Emily Koopmann said, “BCC is a place where we are sharpening each other and caring for each other every day.”
