Career Services is on the move. While this vital service isn’t moving from its central location in the Nebraska Union; it is expanding its reach across campus.

“While we will continue to serve students at the central location, we have been integrating services throughout campus," said Bill Watts, associate dean of university advising and career development. "We’ve steadily been adding and supporting career coaching positions across multiple colleges, through shared partnership. We recognize that dedicated career development roles are closely connected to faculty, curriculum, and academic advising units. It seems only logical that Career Services be integrated with curriculum decisions and our hope is to reach more students by bringing our valuable services to them.”

“Our team was challenged to rethink its role and brand within the greater career development community," said Tracy Lungrin, director of Career Services. "We recognized the importance and need to reach as many students as possible, and the best way to do that was to take our services to where they are spending most of their time, which is near their faculty. In addition to expanding career development through our college partners, we have also added career coaches who will support affinity and identity groups and have also added more peer drop-in coaching options across campus, as well.”

Nebraska has a dedicated team of career development professionals across campus who help students gain the skills they need to manage their career now and in the future. Scheduling an appointment online through MyPLAN is easy. Students simply:

  1. Log in to MyPlan.
  2. Click "Success Network" and search for Career Development.
  3. Select a coach within their academic college or an affinity group that can best meet their career development goals.
