The Center for Transformative Teaching announces its Teaching Online Learning Community, which starts June 26 with an informative kick-off session. The program will run through July 7-31 with synchronous meetings weekly on Thursdays from 9:30-11 a.m. via Zoom.
Registration is open to UNL instructors, GTAs, and staff with teaching duties.
TOLC offers four asynchronous modules to help you:
- Start the semester strong,
- Reach every student through intentional course design,
- Provide meaningful feedback and rich assessments, and
- Build an inviting community of learners online.
Instructors new to teaching online will find this learning community valuable for the support of their peers and instructional designers as they navigate through the weekly topics and develop their course. Experienced instructors may enjoy sharing their knowledge and exploring new ideas as they refresh the course.
TOLC provides a certificate of completion for participants who:
- Work through the weekly module content.
- Participate in Canvas discussions for each module.
- Complete the weekly module assignment and weekly module survey.
The first part of the weekly synchronous sessions will highlight and address notable items from the Canvas discussions, leaving the second, and longest, part as reserved worktime in your Canvas course. Participation in the synchronous sessions is highly encouraged but not required for the certificate of completion.
