The Century Club is Back!

Century Club
Century Club

This spring semester, the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and the Teaching Council are re-introducing the Century Club. The purpose of the Century Club is to offer those teaching large classes with 100 or more students the opportunity to discuss common challenges and to network with other teachers from across campus.

With the exception of the first meeting, this series will be held on the first Tuesday of the month, 7:30-9:00 a.m., in the Peterson Room in Love Library (221 Love South).

The initial meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 16. Calvin Garbin, John Weaver Professor of Psychology and a member of UNL's Academy of Distinguished Teachers, will give a presentation on "Blending Their Hopes and Dreams with Ours (Bending Them to our Hopes and Dreams)," which addresses the frequent mis-match between students and teachers concerning expectations for a course.

Future meetings of the Century Club will be on February 6, March 6, and April 3. Again, each meeting is on a Tuesday, 7:30-9:30am, in 221 Love Library South (the Peterson Room).

All who are teaching large classes, have taught them in the past, or are simply interested in discussing teaching strategies are welcome to attend.
