Undergraduate art exhibition open to March 29

The Department of Art and Art History's 26th Annual Undergraduate Studio Art Competition opens March 15 and continues through March 29 at the Eisentrager•Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.

Gallery hours are 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. A closing reception and announcement of awards is 5 to 7 p.m. March 29 in the gallery.

The exhibition features the artwork of 53 undergraduate students who have been enrolled in a studio art class in the Department of Art and Art History at UNL within the past 12 months.

Awards to be presented included the Jean R. Faulkner Memorial Awards (six $100 awards), the Department of Art and Art History Freshman and Sophomore Awards ($100 each) and the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts Dean's Purchase Award.

The exhibition juror is Karin Campbell, curator of contemporary art at Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha. Campbell was curatorial assistant in the contemporary art department at Carnegie Museum of Art from 2006 to 2009.
