CAREER award seminar is April 11

“How to Write a Competitive CAREER Proposal,” a seminar to help UNL pre-tenure faculty develop successful proposals for the National Science Foundation’s Faculty Early Career Development Program, is 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 11 in the East Union’s Prairie Suite.

Advance registration is required. To register or for more information, go to http://go.unl.edu/hut. The event includes breakfast and lunch.

Workshop participants will learn tips for writing a winning proposal and how to avoid common mistakes.

Lucy Deckard of Academic Research Funding Strategies LLC is the featured speaker. Deckard will discuss the right time to apply for the award, explain how to structure the proposal and describe how to develop an effective education plan.

During the luncheon, Office of Proposal Development staff will discuss institutional resources available to support faculty applying for CAREER awards. UNL faculty who have secured funding through CAREER and other junior investigator programs also will answer questions about the proposal development process.
