The Nebraska Statewide Arboretum’s annual spring plant sale is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 7 on East Campus.
Plants and trees offered include varieties that are native to Nebraska and/or do well in a variety of local growing conditions. The selections will include plants not widely available in area nurseries.
Bob Hendrickson, assistant director for horticulture programs, said one variety offered is a six-petal clematis, a rare bush-type clematis collected by Harlan Hamernik in Mongolia.
“It’s a really tough clematis with delicate, fragrant white flowers in June and bright silver, feathery seed heads in July and August,” Hendrickson said.

Plant buyers should follow signs from the north entrance to East Campus at 38th Street and Huntington/Leighton avenues.
Proceeds from the sale sustain the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum’s mission and fund related programs and services.
A second sale is planned for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 21 at the Fontenelle Nature Association, 1111 N. Bellevue Blvd., in Bellevue.
