Quilt center offers free admission for active military

The International Quilt Study Center and Museum is participating Blue Star Museums, a program that offers free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Families can visit http://www.quiltstudy.org for museum hours.

“We are pleased and proud to participate in this means of expressing appreciation to the members of our country’s military,” said Patricia Crews, director of the quilt museum,

In summer 2010, the inaugural year for the program, some 300,000 military family members visited the partner museums.

This year, more than 1,324 (and counting) museums in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and American Samoa are taking part in the initiative, including more than 500 new museums this year. The complete list of participating Blue Star Museums is available at http://www.arts.gov/bluestarmuseums. The program is sponsored by Blue Star Families, National Endowment for the Arts
