Oliva, Webster headline Nebraska Rep benefit

The Nebraska Repertory Theatre, UNL’s professional Actors’ Equity Association theater company, presents “A Broadway Baritone: The Voice of the Leading Man in Musical Theatre,” 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., June 4 in the Temple Building. The event benefits the Repertory’s 2011 season.

The performance will feature Douglas Webster and Jack Oliva.

Oliva, dean of the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts, has announced his resignation to become provost of the Fashion Institute of Technology at the State University of New York. He has been dean since 2001.

Webster, a former professor of voice and opera, directs the American Singer Seminar master classes nationwide. He has performed around the world.

The event includes cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 5:30 p.m. in the Temple Theatre lobby followed by the entertainment at 6:30 p.m. in the Studio Theatre.

The Rep’s 2011 season, opening July 7, features “Church Basement Ladies,” “Becky’s New Car,” “The 39 Steps,” and two one-night-only Destinations performances.
