Former Husker football players, current Nebraska athletic coaches and other local celebrities headline the Nebraska Alumni Association’s 2011 Football Friday event series.

The third season of Football Fridays kicks off Sept. 2 at the Wick Alumni Center Holling Garden. The featured speaker is Nebraska football assistant Ross Els, who coaches linebackers. A roundtable of Husker experts including Husker legend Tommie Frazier, 2004 special teams MVP Brandon Rigoni and local media members will preview the Huskers’ season opener and answer fan questions about the team. The Husker Sports Network’s Greg Sharpe will lead the panel.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m., and the program begins at 5:15. Football Friday is free and open to the public. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Fans in attendance have the opportunity to win football tickets, Champions Club passes and Husker memorabilia.

Football Friday events are also planned for Sept. 9, Sept. 16, Oct. 7, Oct. 28 and Nov. 4. Featured guests in 2011 include Nebraska assistant coaches Ron Brown and John Garrison, NU volleyball play-by-play announcer John Baylor and more. A complete schedule is available through the link below.

The alumni association introduced Football Fridays in 2009. In 2010, the six Football Friday events drew Husker fans from at least 22 states.
