Student Spotlight: Ethnic Leadership Initiative

The Ethnic Leadership Initiative is a newly founded club at Lincoln High School with with three ETS co-founders, Lama, Cheyenon, and Razan and one former ETS student, current Upward Bound co-founder, Aya. Read their mission statement below.

"Our mission is to promote a stronger drive for change and connection among people of color as a unit. We strive to actively work in communities for people of color to not only educate but change the environments and attitudes which they are surrounded with through diplomacy and community service. This group is designed to host consistent events outside of school which push for differences being made to positively impact our Lincoln communities and America. We accept ideas from all sources in order to gain greater insight and impact for the people. What can you do to make a change?

In the future, we hope to do things like petitions and write letters to politicians to make changes in the community for people of color. We also will be doing community service work to make the local communities in Lincoln a better place."

We are so proud of our TRIO student co-founders for identifying an equity gap and problem-solving an initiative to help their local community. Learn more here: https://www.instagram.com/ethnicleadershipinitiativeeli/
