The next phase for the “high availability” network upgrade project will result in a outage to a number of East Campus buildings on Sunday, July 26 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
Information Technology Services will install a new distribution router that will increase bandwidth and redundancy to East Campus buildings. The project, which began in May of 2014, doubles bandwidth to 2 Gigibits for most buildings and increases internet capacity through connections to commodity vendors and consortiums Internet2 and OmniPop. Work on City Campus was completed last year.
"Our primary goal is to increase the bandwidth to every campus building and strengthen the core redundancy of the network in the case of a disaster and reduce the risk of individual equipment failure," says Kent Eitzmann, Network Architect.
