The previously released Microsoft update (KB3097877) that caused some Outlook 2010 and 2013 clients to crash has been resolved. It is recommended that individuals install KB3097877 by running Windows Update if they haven’t already done so. Those with automatic update enabled should have already received this update.

Areas fully supported by ITS have already or will receive this update during our regular patching schedule on Fridays following Microsoft’s Tuesday patch releases.

Outlook 2010 Safe Mode Issue

Microsoft has pulled an update (KB3114409) that caused some Outlook 2010 clients to automatically start Outlook 2010 in safe mode. This update was pulled shortly after it was released, but it is possible that some clients may have installed it.

Areas fully supported by ITS are not impacted. Departments connected to the SCCM WSUS provided for desktop computers are not impacted. ITS publishes updates on Fridays following Microsoft’s Tuesday releases—so this update has not been made available via our update server. For those receiving updates directly from Microsoft or are supported by other methods, it is recommended that update KB3114409 be removed.
