"Advancing Frontiers in Plant Sciences: Challenges from Concepts to Applicability" is the theme for the 2020 University of Nebraska–Lincoln Nebraska Plant Science Symposium. The symposium is set for Tuesday, March 17 from 8 am to 5:30 pm at the Nebraska Innovation Campus Conference Center.
This one-day symposium is free, open to the public and offered via webinar to the broader scientific community around the world. Registration is required by Feb. 18 to attend or to receive information on how to access the morning sessions via the webinar.
Invited speakers will present on various plant science topics in the morning sessions. Speakers include Paul Gepts, distinguished professor from the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of California Davis, Rajiv Khosla, professor from the College of Agricultural Sciences at Colorado State University and Keith Boldman from Corteva AgriSciences.
The afternoon sessions will feature workshops by experts in the field, tours of the facilities located at the Nebraska Innovation campus, a panel discussion on the perspectives of communicating plant science in an interdisciplinary field, 3-minute student talks and a student poster competition.
The Nebraska Plant Science Symposium is a part of a biennial series which began in 2012. In 2015, the Nebraska symposium became an annual event. It is affiliated with a broader group of plant breeding symposia spanning multiple universities, facilitated by Corteva Agrisciences.
The goal of the symposium series is to enhance agricultural scientific literacy, stimulate collaboration and help build interest in plant breeding careers.
Funding for this symposium was provided by Corteva Agriscience™, the Agriculture Division of DowDuPont, and from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, Agricultural Research Division and the Dermot P. Coyne Distinguished Lectureship fund.
