Anmol Singh, an agronomy and horticulture doctoral student specializing in soil and water science, received the Outstanding Graduate Student Award at the 54th North Central Extension-Industry Soil Fertility Conference in Des Moines, Iowa, Nov. 20-21, 2024.

Criteria for the award are recommendations from the student's advisor and department. Students must also present a poster at the conference. Singh’s poster was titled “Evaluating the Effects of Nitrogen Source, Placement, and Timing on Corn Yield and Nitrogen Losses in the Sandy Soils of Northeast Nebraska”

Singh’s research focuses on identifying optimal nitrogen fertilizer sources and their precise placement to maximize crop yield, enhance nitrogen use efficiency and minimize nitrogen losses through leaching, nitrous oxide emissions and ammonia volatilization.

He is advised by agronomy and horticulture assistant professor Javed Iqbal and plans to continue research on nitrogen management strategies after his May 2026 graduation.
