The University of Nebraska–Lincoln will hold two events honoring the legacy of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Jan. 28. The events are designed to facilitate both reflection and action toward a better appreciation of and respect for the dignity of every person. Open to all students, faculty and staff.
Both events have limited availability and require an RSVP.

Reflecting on the Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.
Sheldon Art Museum
Dr. Harry L. Williams will open the day with brief remarks at a meet and greet, reflecting on the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his contributions to justice, equality, and social change. He will share insights into Dr. King’s philosophy of nonviolence, unity, and the pursuit of equitable opportunities in higher education.

Leadership for the Future—Carrying Forward the Dream
Swanson Auditorium, Nebraska Union
In this culminating lecture, Dr. Williams will connect the legacies of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Thurgood Marshall to contemporary challenges in equity and access. He will reflect on both men’s legacies and contributions to justice, equality, and social change. He will also discuss the role of universities in continuing the fight for justice and share strategies for building community through education and leadership.

A closing reception offering attendees an opportunity to network and engage with Dr. Williams. Light refreshments will be provided.
