Assistant Teaching Professor - Transportation Engineering

The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering (CEGE) at Michigan Technological University invites applications for an instructional track faculty position at the assistant teaching professor level. Applicants for the position are required to have a BS in civil engineering or a closely related discipline, though MS or PhD is desirable. Applicants with only a B.S. degree would be required to have considerable work experience in the transportation
field or a Professional Engineering license. Applicants with the required education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and accomplishments commensurate with a higher rank will also be considered for an appointment at the rank of associate teaching professor, teaching professor, or professor of practice. Beginning August 2024, the successful candidate should be able to
teach undergraduate core courses in various transportation engineering topics, help supervise senior design projects, assist in curriculum assessment and development, and teach graduate level courses in areas of expertise. The candidate may be expected to teach some other courses across CEGE curriculum as well.

The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering currently has 29 faculty members, 580 undergraduate students, and 132 graduate students. Externally funded research is approximately $3.6M, and the Department is on a trajectory to double its graduate enrollment over the next five years. The CEGE Department has many teaching and research labs with state-of-the-art facilities, as well as connections with industry, who provide instrumentation to support student education and research. Michigan Tech's graduates are eagerly sought by
industry because of their hands-on training and rigorous coursework.
