What: ChME 482/882 (Polymers)
When: MWF 11:30am-12:20pm
Where: Othmer B161
Instructor: Dr. Shudipto Konika Dishari
This course is a nice combination of theories related to polymer,
different properties of polymers and exciting applications of
polymer-based materials (including nanomaterials). You will get to
know how in practical life, polymer designs are driven by the need
of real applications (e.g., renewable energy, biomedical and others).
Some specialty polymers that will be discussed include light
harvesting polymers, biopolymers (cellulose, lignin), ion-conducting
polymers, and block copolymers.
There are some interesting aspects of this course. Dr. Dishari will
conduct a module on science communication. There are invited
talks from UNL College of Engineering Career Services, and NUTech
venture on career preparedness, potential career paths, and
entrepreneurship. The course also invites 1-2 invited speakers (UNL
Faculty/alumni/industry folks) to give students a theoretical and
practical perspective, and broader views of polymers, nanomaterials
and relevant subject matters.
The course has certain prerequisites (Chem 262, 264). If you have
questions or trouble registering for the course, feel free to contact
Dr. Dishari or Ethan Kreifels (email: s-ekreife3@unl.edu) to request a permission code.
