Parking permits for the 2024-2025 academic year are now available for preorder. There is no increase in cost.
These permits are part of the License Plate Recognition system; vehicle license plates serve as permit identification.
A parking permit is required for any vehicle parked in designated areas of the Lincoln campus.
To be included in the License Plate Recognition parking permit system, students must register their vehicles online and pay designated permit fees. The vehicle is then eligible to park in assigned campus areas. Nine-month student parking permits take effect August 19.
Permits for students living in 50/50 housing take effect August 1.
Parking permits for students who live on campus coordinate with housing choices.
• Residents who live in a City Campus residence hall, fraternity or sorority must select the appropriate R01, R02, 14R, 17R, 18R or 19R permit.
• East Campus residents must select E permits.
• Commuters who live off-campus and do not require overnight parking can select Area C, D01, D02, D03, 14C, 17C, 19C or SGC permits.
PREORDER YOUR PERMIT ONLINE.
To use the online purchase process, select the area and type of permit you want, choose payment option, and provide vehicle registration information.
• Permit options are detailed at https://parking.unl.edu/student-parking-options.
• Make permit purchase online at https://parking.unl.edu/student-parking-permit-purchase-guide
• Verify and update vehicle and license information during purchase process. Accurate license information serves as your actual parking permit.
R01, R02 and 19R resident permit holders will receive a Permit Event Sticker through campus mail. It must be displayed for parking during campus events, including high school championships and home football games. It verifies the vehicle has an appropriate permit to park in that area.
With the exception of the 19th and Vine garage, a hang tag accompanies each garage parking permit. Garage permit hang tags contain RFID which uses radio frequency signals to operate gate readers. Each tag is valid only in the assigned garage. The hang tag will be mailed to the address provided during purchase. Garage permit holders do not need an event sticker but should display their garage permit for campus event parking.
Commuter permit holders for surface lots will not receive any physical permit to display in the vehicle, but may request a Permit Event Sticker. It verifies License Plate Recognition system participation for parking attendants and must be displayed for parking during major campus events, including high school championships and home football games.
To receive the Permit Event Sticker, use your official UNL email account and send the request to Parking and Transit Services at unlpts@unl.edu
Please indicate if the permit will be picked up at the office or the local Lincoln address to which it should be sent.
