Hometown: I'm from Omaha, NE
Major: I'm an English major.
Year in school: I'm a sophomore.
Favorite Food: I was raised on hamburgers and fries. So while I love Chinese food, nothing quite does it like a good cheese burger.
Random fact about yourself: I grew up a huge Kanye fan. So even though I'm not a fan of his music or decisions during the last few years, I still believe his first three albums were the best string of albums by any rapper. I can also talk hip hop culture for hours.
Something you have learned as a W.H. Thompson Scholar: I learned how to care for people outside of my family as if they were my brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, etc. Like family, I learned to appreciate the things others in the community agreed with me about, but I also learned to grow from disagreement with others.
Something you love most about being a W.H. Thompson Scholar: I have been taken care of so well by countless people in the community. I love being able to lean on the people around me. I love being a resource for others, and I love how easy it is to connect with other WHT people.
Something you are looking forward to this year as a W.H. Thompson Scholar: I'm a co-chair for the WHT service learning committee (shameless plug) and I'm sincerely pumped about getting involved in the Lincoln community on and off campus with as many WHT slats as possible. Just brain storming ideas and making preliminary phone calls to set up service learning opportunities excites me!
Where you see yourself in 10 years: I see myself teaching high school in Omaha. High school kids are just beginning to gain autonomy over their lives and I want to help kids maximize their potential.
