NC State offers MOOC on statistics

A team at the Friday Institute at NC State University has designed a Massive Open Online Course for Educators (MOOC-ED) that is focused on "Teaching Statistics Through Data Investigations". The course is designed to develop the pedagogy and content understanding for teachers in middle school, high school, and AP/ intro college levels.

Teachers may be currently practicing, or in a teacher preparation program. There will be many choices and options in the course for teachers to focus their learning around specific content.

The course will launch Sept. 28, run for six weeks, but stay open until mid-December to allow flexibility for all learners.

Registration is free, and there is an opportunity to earn certificates of completion for 20 or 25 hours if you complete all activities in the course (20 hrs) and do a project (25). It may be a great opportunity for teachers to work in teams or PLCs to complete the course together.

You can see a more detailed description of the course and register here:

This is FREE professional development for teachers on a wide scale and the hope is that it can serve many!
