Theatrix begins season with 'Gruesome Playground Injuries'

Theatrix is opening the spring season with Rajiv Joseph's "Gruesome Playground Injuries." The play runs at 7:30 p.m. March 8-9 and 2 p.m. March 10 in the Temple Building's Lab Theatre.

"Gruesome Playground Injuries" follows the strangely intersecting lives of Kayleen and Doug. After 30 years of

"Gruesome Playground Injuries" features childhood friends Kayleen (played by Kirstie Smith) and Doug (Patrick Stayer) whose lives intersect at bizarre times in their lives. These chance encounters lead the friends to compare the scars and physical calamities that draw them together. The play is performed in a black-box space.

The production is directed by Billy Jones, an undergraduate acting major.

Scenic design is by Zach Trout, while Travis Triplett is in charge of lighting design. Sound design is by Joe Shea. Costumes are led by Katie Davis. Davis is paired with Sydney Tillotson for makeup design. The props mistress is Alma Ceretta. Technical direction is led by Matt Rightmire, while Ben Adams is stage director.
