Journalism hosts mobile app development workshop

The College of Journalism and Mass Communications, in partnership with the Knight Digital Media Center at the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communications and Journalism, will host a workshop for Nebraska news executives and journalism educators April 14-15.

Participants will learn that mobile - from cheap “candybar” cell phones up to iPads - is an increasingly important media and communication channel spanning all income levels and geographic regions.

The workshop, "Get Ready to Mobile!," will explore how to put mobile strategy front of mind, including how to build mobile strategies for community news organizations on tight budgets. The workshop will be led by Vikki Porter, director of the Knight Digital Media Center at USC; Staci Baird, journalism instructor at San Francisco State University; Kim Duschinski, president of Mobile Marketing Profits; Amy Gahran, digital media consultant and senior editor of OaklandLocal.com; and Will Sullivan, interactive director of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
