Jennifer Nelson has been assigned the position Assistant Director, Division of General Studies; Kristin Anderson has joined the Division of General Studies as an academic adviser, and Tony Lazarowicz is an Assistant Academic Program Coordinator, William H. Thompson Scholars Learning Community. This realignment was announced recently by Dean of Undergraduate Studies Rita Kean.

The Division of General Studies is the academic home for undeclared UNL students and is administered through the Office of Undergraduate Studies. Nelson reports directly to dean Kean. Nelson has served as Interim Director of General Studies since March 2009. She has been an adviser with General Studies since 1992. Anderson was former director of freshman advising and retention counselor at Mount Marty College.

The WHT Scholars Learning Community is specifically designed for UNL undergraduate students who are recipients of the Susan T. Buffett Foundation Scholarship. Lazarowicz's office will be in the Division of General Studies where he will serve as academic adviser to undeclared WHT Scholars and assist the WHT faculty/staff team. With approximately 296 new freshman WHT Scholars this fall -- 20 percent of who are General Studies majors -- Larawicz's location in General Studies will help ensure the undeclared WHT students choose a major in a timely way.
