Team World Easily Wins the 2016 Riordan Cup 17-10

The Riordan Cup took place at Wilderness Ridge on October 27 and 28 with the World winning very handily. Play started Thursday afternoon with 9 holes of four-ball and 9 holes of foursomes and continued on Friday morning with individual matches.

This year several students could play only one day but luckily the teams had an equal number of players each day. Dr. Terrance Riordan was able to attend the start of the matches and meet the students participating each day but was not able to be at the conclusion of the event as he and his wife Judy attended a Scholarship luncheon Friday afternoon.

The luncheon was to recognize the Riordans and introduce them to their scholarship recipients this year. It also marked an impressive overall contribution totally more than $100,000 provided to PGA Golf Management students for scholarships by the Riordans.

The Riordan Cup is a competition played each fall where students from Nebraska (Team Nebraska) play a Ryder Cup style match against students from out-of-state (Team World). The event is named after Dr. Terrance Riordan, former director of the UNL PGA Golf Management program.

Congratulations to Team World!
