More Than 3,300 Students to be Recognized at Honors Convocations

Lincoln, Neb., March 19th, 2004 —

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln will recognize more than 3,300 students for outstanding academic achievement during honors convocations March 28 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts and at events hosted by colleges and departments.

The Rising Scholars Convocation will begin at 1 p.m. and the University Scholars Convocation will begin at 4 p.m. The Lied's lobby doors will open one hour before each ceremony.

The Rising Scholars Convocation will honor freshmen and sophomore scholars who have attained a 4.0 grade-point average in their academic studies. Also honored will be freshman scholars who have attained a 3.6 to 3.99 cumulative GPA.

The University Scholars Convocation at 4 p.m. will recognize 24 Chancellor's Scholars who are graduating seniors and who have attained 4.0 averages on all graded collegiate work either at the University of Nebraska or any post-secondary educational institution. Also recognized are Superior Scholars, graduating seniors who have attained GPAs of 3.6 or higher, are in the upper 3 percent of their college's senior class or have been on the honors convocation list each year since matriculating as freshmen. Also being honored are 4.0 seniors who will not be graduating this year and 4.0 juniors.

Outstanding faculty will also be recognized at both ceremonies. Chancellor Harvey Perlman will preside at each.

Following is an alphabetical-by-hometown list of students who will be honored during Honors Weekend. Information includes the student's name, honors (C for Chancellor's Scholar, S for Superior Scholar, and H for High Scholar, the latter category including all non-seniors), year in school and college. An asterisk (*) indicates a student with a 4.0 grade-point average at UNL.

The key for college abbreviations: Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (ASNR), Architecture (Arch), Arts and Sciences (A&S), Business Administration (CBA), Education and Human Sciences (EHS), Engineering and Technology (E&T), General Studies (GS), Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts (F&PA), Journalism and Mass Communications (JMC), and University of Nebraska at Omaha College of Public Affairs and Community Service (PACS). Students are also listed from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Nursing if they attend classes on the UNL campus.
