College of Business Administration to Honor Leaders April 16

A distinguished group of Nebraskans has been tapped for special honors at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Business Administration's annual awards luncheon on April 16.
The college will recognize Howard Hawks with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Hawks is chairman and CEO of Tenaska, an international electric power development corporation that Forbes recently named one of America's largest private companies. He is a member of the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.
Susan Jacques and Dale Jensen will garner Business Leadership Awards. Jacques is president of Borsheim's Fine Jewelry and Gifts. She began her career as a sales associate in 1982 and was appointed president and CEO in 1994 by Warren Buffett. Jensen started his career at age 23 as the youngest vice-president at the National Bank of Commerce in Lincoln. After three years, he co-founded Information Technology, a computer software and solutions provider for banks and savings institutions. In 1996 he sold Information Technology and pursued investments in development, ranch and farm properties, the hotel and restaurant industry, and sports franchises including the Arizona Diamondbacks.
N.P. Dodge Real Estate of Omaha and United Nebraska Bank of Grand Island will receive Corporate Leadership Awards. NP Dodge Co., founded in 1855, is the oldest real estate company in the United States and has been led by five successive generations of the Dodge family. The company employs 420 people and has more than 400 sales associates. United Nebraska Bank has 11 branch banks throughout the state.
John Bergmeyer and Norm Hedgecock, both of Lincoln, will receive Distinguished Alumni Awards from CBA. Bergmeyer is a partner with Harding, Shultz & Downs Law Firm and has served as president of the College of Business Administration advisory board for the past two years. He sits on the search committee for the senior vice chancellor for academic affairs at UNL. Hedgecock is partner in charge of the Nebraska practice of BKD, LLP. He has served on the College of Business Administration alumni board and is a trustee for the University of Nebraska Foundation.
Nancy J. Stara, the Deloitte & Touche professor of accountancy at UNL, is this year's recipient of the Distinguished Faculty Award. Stara joined the CBA faculty in 1985 and taught business law and taxation in the School of Accountancy. She has served as associate dean of the College of Business Administration, as associate vice chancellor for academic affairs, and most recently as director of the School of Accountancy.
