Neal Hansen, chairman and chief executive officer of Denver-based CSG Systems International Inc., will speak April 21 about applying an engineering education to the real world during E-Week 2004 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Engineering and Technology.
CSG Systems is a global leader in next-generation billing and customer care solutions for the cable television, direct broadcast satellite, advanced IP services, next-generation mobile and fixed wireline markets. Hansen will speak at 3 p.m. in Room 106 of Othmer Hall, 17th and Vine streets. The presentation is free open to the public.
In 2002, Hansen directed numerous strategic acquisitions that led to the dramatic increase in CSG's geographic reach and customer base across many telecommunications markets. In that year, CSG acquired the Kenan Systems' billing and customer care business from Lucent Technologies, the ICMS billing division of IBM and electronic billing and self-care software company Davinci Technologies. Hansen's growth strategies earned him the prestigious designation as CEO of the Year, and CSG was named the Billing Solutions Company of the Year by industry firm Frost & Sullivan in 2002.
Prior to heading CSG, Hansen was co-founder, president, and chief executive officer of Applied Communications Inc., which became the world's largest provider of transaction processing software for financial institutions. Before that, he served as president of US WEST Data Systems Group, where he was responsible for the operational and strategic direction of five US WEST software and services companies. In addition, Hansen served in executive roles at IBM and Eastman Kodak.
Hansen holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Nebraska, and has served on many professional and service organization boards, including the National Cable Television Association.
