Allen Dayton Scholarships Awarded to Future Business Students

Cynthia Hardin Milligan, dean of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Business Administration, has announced the recipients of the Allen Dayton Nebraska Young Entrepreneur Scholarships. The awards are offered through the Nebraska Center for Entrepreneurship to Nebraska high school students who display outstanding potential to become entrepreneurs and to develop successful businesses.
Dayton, president of Dayton Cos. of Lincoln, is the sponsor of the awards, which provide financial assistance to these students as they pursue degrees at UNL. Scholars who receive these prizes plan to attend UNL and enroll in Entrepreneurship 121 and participate in Students In Free Enterprise activities.
The top scholarship of $2,000 goes to Justin Rediger of Lincoln Lutheran. Lindsey Oltjenbruns of Osmond won the second prize of $1,000.
Additional scholarships of $500 each went to Amanda Brown of Millard North, Eric Chloupek of Harvard, Danielle Hale of Centennial, Marcus Madler of Papillion-La Vista, Kevin Madsen of Litchfield, Colby McIntyre and Carol Minarick of North Bend Central, Jill Mechtenberg of Columbus, Daniel Owens of Adams Central, and Jenna Propp of Gering. All winners also participated in the infoUSA Heartland Conference on Free-Enterprise held this spring at the Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln.
