Allan McCutcheon Named Statistical Association Fellow

Lincoln, Neb., June 4, 2004 --Allan McCutcheon has been named a fellow of the American Statistical Association. McCutcheon is director of the Gallup Research Center, chair of the survey research and methodology graduate program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and professor of statistics and sociology.

In order to be honored with the title of fellow, members must have an established reputation and have made outstanding contributions in some aspect of statistical work. The committee on fellows evaluates candidates' contributions to the advancements of statistics, giving due weight to publications, the positions held by the candidates in the organizations in which they are employed, activities within the association, membership and attainments in other societies, and other professional activities.

The annual awards are limited to no more than one-third of 1 percent of the ASA membership. This year, 56 members of the association were named fellows.
