Events celebrate Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender History Month

Lincoln, Neb., September 28th, 2004 —

October is Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender History Month and a variety of activities marking it are planned at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

The schedule of events:

Oct. 1 -- GLBT History Month opening ceremony, 11:25 a.m., Union Square, Nebraska Union, 1400 R St., proclamation presented by Lincoln Mayor Coleen Seng.

Oct. 9 -- The Pride Players (A group of Omaha teens who address anti-gay bias issues via theatrical vignettes), 4-6 p.m., The Crib, Nebraska Union (doors close at 4:10).

Oct. 11 -- National Coming Out Day.

Oct. 12 -- Spectrum Open House, 3-5 p.m., Nebraska Union (room posted).

Oct. 13 -- OASIS movie night at the Culture Center, 333 N. 14th St., 7 p.m., "Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin"; for more information, visit www.rustin.org on the World Wide Web.

Oct. 21 -- Second-Annual GLBT History Month celebration dinner, 6-8 p.m., Nebraska Union (room posted). Tickets on sale Oct. 4, Nebraska Union Information Desk. Students with NCard $10, non-students $12.

Oct. 24 -- "Power of an Ally" workshop, 1-4 p.m., Nebraska Union (room posted).

Oct. 26 -- Committee on GLBT Concerns open house, 3:30-4:30 p.m., Student Involvement Green Room, Nebraska Union.
