Meredith Carpenter, a University of Nebraska-Lincoln graduate from Omaha, has won a Fulbright scholarship to spend the 2004-2005 academic year at the University of Oslo, Norway.
In Oslo, Carpenter studies international higher education with about 40 participants from around the world. The program looks at university structures worldwide. She also does research to investigate the needs of non-traditional students over age 24 at the University of Oslo. This will replicate a similar study she did at UNL.
Carpenter received her master's degree from UNL in 2001 in Educational Administration with a specialization in Student Affairs. Since graduating, the Omaha native has worked as resident hall director for Selleck and Abel halls.
Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, the Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers opportunities for recent graduates, postgraduate candidates, and developing professionals and artists to conduct career-launching study and research abroad.
