Johnsen is finalist for environmental broadcasting award

Lincoln, Neb., Oct. 4, 2004 - Carolyn Johnsen, a lecturer at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications, is a finalist for a broadcast award from the national Society of Environmental Journalists.

Johnsen's nomination is for her work on Nebraska Public Radio last year, reporting on water quantity issues in Nebraska. Three of her nominated stories were from a broadcast series, "Troubled Waters," and a fourth was on hog production. She is one of three finalists.

Awards will be given at the national convention of the SEJ in Pittsburgh Oct. 20.

Johnsen has been a lecturer in the college since July 1 and teaches writing, including a new course in science writing.
