ROTC cadets to conduct retreat ceremony on Veterans Day

Lincoln, Neb., November 10th, 2004 —

The cadet wing at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln ROTC will celebrate Veterans Day with a retreat ceremony at 5 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Military and Naval Sciences building, 14th and Vine streets on the UNL City Campus.

Cadet Wing Commander Col. Patrick T. Shanahan will provide remarks before the day's retreat, the formal bringing down of the flag by an honor guard at the end of the duty day.

Cadets who have parents and other relatives who have served in the U.S. military will be recognized.

Also on Veterans Day, the second of two flags donated to UNL that flew in Afghanistan will be raised by color guard at 3:30 p.m. in front of Chase Hall on East Campus.

The flags were donated by UNL alumna Linda Christiansen, a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force who served in Afghanistan and now works at U.S. Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base.
