Feb. 21 lecture in youth violence and aggression series postponed

Lincoln, Neb., February 16th, 2005 —

The Feb. 21 opening lecture in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's series, "Youth Violence and Aggression in Families, Schools and Communities: Research and Policy Implications" has been postponed to a date to be announced.

Susan Sheridan, an organizer of the series, said the lecture "Childhood Aggression and Gender: Boys will be Boys, But What about Girls?" by Nicki Crick, director and professor at the Institute of Child Development at the University of Minnesota, will be rescheduled for later in the spring semester. Sheridan is Willa Cather professor of educational psychology at UNL and director of the Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families and Schools.

Other lectures in the series are to go on as scheduled, beginning March 7 with "Real Boys and Young Men: Hearing their Voices, Understanding Their Pain, Healing their Disconnection," by William Pollack, an international expert and best-selling author of "Real Boys." All lectures are 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Nebraska Union, 1400 R St. They are free and open to the public.
