Lincoln, Neb., February 22nd, 2005 —

Through his motivational speaking, baton twirling and genuine, friendly personality, Robert "Bob" Foehlinger left a mark on many people. Now the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Student Alumni Association plans to leave Foehlinger's mark on campus with a memorial fountain, in the Wick Alumni Center garden.

Foehlinger, SAA president, the first male twirler for the Cornhusker Marching Band, and former DECA state and national officer was killed in a car accident in May 2003.

A kickoff fund-raising event -- "Spaghetti Splash," featuring salad, baked pasta and bread donated by Spaghetti Works -- will be held from 5 to 8 pm. March 4 at the Wick Center, 1520 R St. Entertainment will be provided by the Scarlet and Cream Singers, the Bathtub Dogs (UNL men's a cappella group), the Stepperettes (a baton twirling group led by Foehlinger's mother) and the UNL Pep Band. Also on tap are a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction for an iPod, club-level seating and Nebraska Champions Club passes for the Sept. 10 Nebraska-Wake Forest football game at Memorial Stadium.

The event, planned by SAA, Innocents Society and Mortar Board, is the first step in an effort to raise money for the fountain and endow a maintenance fund for its upkeep. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased online at www.bobby.huskeralum.com, at the Wick Alumni Center, or by calling (888) 353-1874 or (402) 472-2841. Tickets will also be sold March 2-4 at the Nebraska Union, 1400 R St.

Additionally, the Alumni Association is accepting donations for the memorial project. They can be made online or by calling the alumni association.
