Lincoln, Neb., March 7th, 2005 —

Applications are being taken for membership on the Chancellor's Commission on the Status of Women. New student members will serve two-year terms for the academic years 2005-07. Faculty and staff members will serve three-year terms from 2005-2008. Applications and additional information are available online at www.unl.edu/ccsw.

The commission enhances the status of women at UNL by advising the chancellor on issues pertaining to gender equity and on specific concerns of women faculty, staff and students.

The commission consists of 26 members, divided into three councils: the Council of Faculty, the Council of Staff, and the Council of Students. Each council is diverse and represents a broad range of women from across the university. It is the goal of the commission to have a diverse membership that represents the population of women at UNL in terms of ethnicity and national origin, sexual orientation, race, religion, age, disability and other characteristics.

Student applications should be submitted by March 25 to Jan Deeds, coordinator for the Council of Students, at 340 Nebraska Union, 68588-0446, or e-mail jdeeds1@unl.edu. Faculty and staff applications should be submitted by March 18 to Jody Wood, CCSW secretary, 128 Canfield Administration Building, 68588-0437, or e-mail jewood@unlnotes.unl.edu.
