Dayton Young Entrepreneur Scholarship Winners Announced

Ten entrepreneurs from high schools across Nebraska were presented with scholarships to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln March 24 at the annual Celebrate Entrepreneurship Awards Banquet. The students were selected from more than 270 Nebraska high school seniors nominated for displaying outstanding entrepreneurial potential.
The Allen Dayton Nebraska Young Entrepreneur Scholarship Contest, designed to support students who wish to own their own businesses, is sponsored by Allen Dayton, president of Dayton Cos., and the Nebraska Center for Entrepreneurship at UNL.
Scholarship winners are:
First place ($2,000): Amy Oum, Lincoln North Star (nominated by Bonnie J. Malcolm). Oum said she hopes to open a pediatrics clinic in Lincoln and/or open a clinic in a smaller, needy country.
Second place ($1,000): Natalie Moravec, Grand Island Central Catholic (nominated by Susan Krotz). Moravec said she hopes to open a formal/bridal gown shop.
Winners of $500 scholarships are:
* Robert Bundy, Ashland-Greenwood (nominated by: Jean Ann Watermeier). Bundy said he hopes to become a veterinarian and open a veterinary clinic.
* Wes Cammack, Tri County (nominated by Beth Dunker). Cammack said he hopes to own and operate a business in a rural setting.
* Heidi Fleharty, Fillmore Central (nominated by Cindy Talley). Fleharty said she hopes to open an advertising firm.
* Jessica Frerichs, West Holt (nominated by Ted Thiele). Frerichs said she hopes to own an accounting firm.
* Brandi Harders, Grand Island Northwest (nominated by Linda Kieselhorst). Harders said she hopes to open a business specializing in independent business and marketing career locators and to possibly pursue politics.
* Kyle Hathorn, Gordon (nominated by Jeanne Hensley). Hathorn said he hopes to become a lawyer and open up a law firm.
* Brett Kreifels, Platteview (nominated by Tim McNamara). Kreifels said he hopes to own a poultry hatchery and processing plant.
* Anthony Roesler, Tri County (nominated by Dunker). Roesler owns a computer sales and repair business and said he hopes to expand on this in the future.
