Salerno, Otterson receive inaugural Cather Circle Awards

Jeanne Garner Salerno, 1962, and Kristen Otterson, 2005, both of Omaha, are the first recipients of the Cather Circle Alumna of the Year and Collegian of the Year awards. The awards were announced at the spring meeting of Cather Circle, April 8-9 at the Wick Alumni Center, and will be presented at the All-University Celebration and Salute to Alumni Achievement, May 6 at the Nebraska Champions Club.

Salerno was the founding chair of Cather Circle in 1999. A former national president of the Nebraska Alumni Association board of directors, she received the association's Distinguished Service Award in 1998 and is a member of the UNL committee of visitors and the Nebraskaland Foundation board. Salerno is director of professional development for Kutak Rock LLP in Omaha.

Otterson will graduate in business management and marketing in December. She has been active in the Student Alumni Association, Alpha Phi sorority, the University Honors Program, DECA/Delta Epsilon Chi and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. As a Cather collegian, Otterson has been a member of the executive and marketing committees. She is an intern at Gallup.
