Osborn, Vann, Yaley awards to be presented May 6

The Nebraska Alumni Association will present leadership awards to three outstanding University of Nebraska-Lincoln students during the All-University Celebration and Salute to Alumni Achievement May 6 at the Nebraska Champions Club.

The Shane Osborn Award, named after the 1996 UNL graduate and Navy lieutenant, goes to Jared D. Wall, a senior in industrial engineering from Madison, S.D. Meghan M. Lyons, a senior in electrical engineering from Brookings, S.D., is the recipient of the Vann Leadership Award, established by the late Howard Vann and his wife Judy. The Roy and Catherine Yaley Student Leadership Award, named in memory of a former alumni association president and his wife by their daughters, will be presented to Cindy Gottschalck, a junior in marketing from Omaha.

Wall, an Air Force ROTC cadet, seeks out leadership opportunities and is ever-present during volunteer and booster activities. His leadership in preparing the ROTC sophomore class for field training resulted in four distinguished graduates and two superior performers. He has chosen the career path of military aviation.

Lyons is a senior in the J.D. Edwards Honors Program, where she has worked for Stanley Senior Technologies and the Nebraska Department of Agriculture. She has served as president of the College of Engineering and Technology Student Advisory Board, vice president of Chi Omega sorority, member of Mortar Board senior honorary, New Student Enrollment orientation leader and a participant in LeaderShape Nebraska 2002.

Gottschalck is an intern with the Nebraska Alumni Association, where she is president of the Student Ring Committee and a Cather Circle collegian. She also is president of the UNL student chapter of the American Marketing Association, vice president of marketing for Alpha Kappa Psi, ASUN assistant homecoming coordinator, Sports Illustrated campus consultant, Athletic Department skybox hostess and a member of the Student Support Services advisory board.
