Lincoln, Neb., August 2nd, 2005 —

Sandy Watmore, of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, received the Olive T. Ritchie Educational Office Professional of the Year award from the National Association of Educational Office Professionals.

Watmore, a residence life services supervisor for University Housing at the Harper, Schramm, Smith and Husker Village residence halls, received the award at the association's national convention last month in Tucson, Ariz.

"It was just overwhelming to get this (award) and to get the kinds of accolades that go with it," said Watmore, who was the second UNL employee to win the award in the last three years. Lola Young, also a residence life services supervisor for University Housing, won the award in 2003.

Watmore, who is originally from Wymore, has worked at UNL for nearly 30 years, mostly in the Business and Finance Department. Last fall, she switched to University Housing, where she hires student employees and oversees the desk functions for four residence halls.

Watmore has been active in her local, state and national office professional organizations, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Office Professionals Association, the Nebraska Educational Office Professional Association and the National Association of Educational Office Professionals.
