Lincoln's Wysocki, Grant's Demmel crowned homecoming king & queen

Keith Wysocki of Lincoln and Sarah Demmel of Grant were crowned king and queen of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Homecoming Oct. 8 in a ceremony at halftime of the Nebraska vs. Texas Tech football game at Memorial Stadium.

The two seniors were among 30 candidates for king and queen and were elected in an Oct. 6 vote of the UNL student body.

Demmel carries a 3.86 grade-point average in a double major of economics and international studies, with minors in English and German. She won the Peter Kiewit, Regents and Honors Program scholarships at UNL, where she is a member of Delta Gamma sorority, the Husker Spirit Squad and the Nebraska Human Resource Institute. Off campus, she is a fellow of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a Special Olympics basketball coach and a member of the leadership staff of Lutheran Camp Perkins. She is the daughter of Dennis and Ruth Demmel of Grant.

Wysocki has a 3.834 grade-point average in secondary education, with a minor in mathematics. At UNL, he won the National Merit, Regents and King Family scholarships, and won the Phi of the Year award from his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, the Executive of the Month award from the Residence Hall Association, and the Mark Schulze Award for Outstanding Achievement. Off campus, he volunteers with the Lincoln Running Co. and is a member of Lincoln Berean Church. He is the son of Douglas and Reba Wysocki.
