UNL Phi Beta Kappa chapter initiates 24 new members

Lincoln, Neb., December 9th, 2005 —

Twenty-four students from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Arts and Sciences were initiated into membership in Phi Beta Kappa on Dec. 6.

Phi Beta Kappa is the nation's oldest academic honor society, recognizing and encouraging a commitment to excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. The students are from the August and December graduating classes.

Following is a list by hometown of the new members with their majors and the names of their parents and spouses (if applicable).

NEBRASKA

Bellevue: Sara Caitlin Unrein, speech-language pathology and audiology, daughter of Gerard and Judy Unrein.

Clay Center: Hillary Meredith Swanson, geography, daughter of Robert and Diana Swanson.

Columbus: Erica Lynn Robak, English and psychology, daughter of Steve Robak and Rebecca Leslie.

Fremont: Sarah Elizabeth Moum, English and Latin, daughter of Monica Moum.

Gering: Jeremy Wade Groskopf, history and film studies, son of Don and Marsha Groskopf.

Lincoln: Stephanie Michelle Beran, anthropology, daughter of Kenneth Beran of Burlington, Colo., and Kathleen Czaplewski Beran of Lincoln, wife of Dennis D. DeWald; Andrew Todd Brennfoerder, biochemistry, son of Leroy and Roxann Brennfoerder; Edie Michelle Cruise, Spanish, international studies and Latin American studies, daughter of Michael Cruise and Patricia Wilson; B. Garth Glissman II, history and political science, son of Blayne G. and Susan Glissman; Keith Norman Jensen, biological sciences, son of Pete and Lisa Jensen; Kaitlyn Elizabeth Koenigsman, English, daughter of Bruce and Sherry Koenigsman; Jeffrey James Richardson, biochemistry, son of James and Jillayne Richardson; Aaron Bishop Sand, philosophy, son of Ben and Nancy Sand.

Nebraska City: Amanda Jean Embrey, psychology, daughter of Jeffrey Kastens of Weeping Water and Pamela Frana of Nebraska City, wife of Christopher Scott Embrey.

Omaha: Nathan Allen Charlow, philosophy and history, son of Petrous Charlow and Nicolette Amundson; Krista Ann Korbel, actuarial science, daughter of Ed and Linda Korbel; Jenny Marie Peterson, international studies, daughter of Lorraine Peterson; Hallie Blount Sharkey, English and psychology, daughter of Gerald and Cary Sharkey.

Paxton: Justin Paul Snyder, political science, son of Ken and Chris Snyder.

Stromsburg: Tabitha Nicole Jameson, psychology, daughter of David and Mary Jameson.
